The CAWS is NOT a shelter and is independent from any national animal welfare or humane organization, which makes our task even more difficult. We do not receive any financial assistance from these groups. We are a non-profit organization and we rely totally on the generosity of our contributors.

Regular monthly financial support will let us spend less time on fund raising and more time on programs and activities that serve our animals in need. Should your selected pet be adopted, you can choose another pet or have your donation go to the care of all the pets in our care.
This steady stream of income funds our every day costs: food, medical supplies and treatments, safe and comfortable habitats for the animals and the love and care they receive from our volunteers. Our monthly sponsors enjoy an easy way to budget their giving while making a huge impact on our ability to save even more animals from the life threatening situations they face.
Even if you are not able to adopt from us, you can still make a difference to animals in our care through
our Sponsor-A-Pet program. This is an exciting and rewarding way to watch your donation in action. You
can help support one or more of our dogs or cats, and help us with the costs of fostering, feeding and
providing medical care for that animal.
When an animal is brought into The CAWS's care, he/she receives a routine medical exam, vaccinations,
and treatment for any injury or illness he/she may have. Before an animal is adopted, it is spayed or
neutered as well as microchipped. Our high standard of care – including quality food, grooming, and
other needs – is not fully recovered in our adoption fees.
As a sponsor, you will receive a color photo of your sponsored pet along with any background
information we have on the cat or dog. Once your chosen pet is adopted, your donation will go toward
another animal in need. By choosing to donate on a monthly basis, you have the satisfaction of knowing
you are continuing to help all the animals still awaiting adoption.
You can also sponsor a pet in memory of or in honor of someone. This is a wonderful way to remember
a beloved person or pet. If you are interested in our Sponsor-A-Pet program, please select your monthly
gift donation, and complete the form below. One of our volunteers would love to provide you more
information on how you can start helping your sponsored pet today!
We also welcome donations of equipment and supplies to make the job easier. If you can supply, or if you know someone who could help us get more of these items, let us know, it will be greatly appreciated.
If you are in the Edmonton or Greater Edmonton area and can supply, or if you know someone who could help us get more of these items, please contact us and one of our volunteers will gladly come to pick them up.
The number of animals that we can help is dependent primarily upon both the material and human resources available to us. We try to keep costs down, but on the other hand, we have a responsibility to the animals as well as to people who adopt them to proide for all of their needs as best as we can while they are in our care.
An animal may need to be de-wormed, vaccinated, microchipped, nursed through illness, tested or spayed/neutered. They also need to be fed while in foster care, which can be several days, weeks, or even months. There are sundry expenses like leashes, collars, cages/crates, bedding, toys, treats, etc.
Finding good homes for our rescue animals requires photo taking, advertisements, phone bills, vehicle expenses, and the maintenance of this website just to name a few.
